What a difference a day makes.

After Saturday's sweltering heat, Banbury Borough welcomed us with overcast skies, the threat of showers and thankfully a cooler temperature, for our fixture against Leicester City & District Parks BA.

Playing from the clubhouse, the opposite way to how games are usually played at the Borough, was a new experience for many of the VP's and I think all the Leicester bowlers.

The first third of the game produced a close contest with only four shots separating the sides afterwhich the VP's gradually increased their lead to finish with a very comfortable win.

Doug Woodward, Bill Pointer, Ron Havard and Brian Ray playing on rink 1 took the top rink prizes with a 30-6 win.

Rink 5, Percy Hickman, Dennis Roberts, John Timms and County President Mick Morris, playing on his own green, recorded a 15 shot, 28-13 scoreline.

Paul McGrath, John Stephens, John McGeough and Mike Andrew came back from 4-10 down after 10 ends to win 9 of the remaining eleven ends to take their game 24-13.

Vice Chairman Allan Hunt, who deputised on the day lead for Gerald Fountain, Alex Fleming and Alan Wase on rink 3.The second half dampness obviously worked in their favour with them winning seven of the last eight ends and finishing on 23-14.

John Dunne, John Duncan, Peter Latter and Ian Whelpton picked up nine shots on the last four ends to turn the game in their favour, closing on 23-17.
